5463-436 Woodward ProTech 203
The 5463-436 is a microprocessor-based digital governor controller produced by Woodward, belonging to its classic 505 series.
It is primarily designed for speed control and protection of steam turbines. Below is a detailed introduction to this product:
I. Product Overview
- Brand and Model: Woodward 5463-436

- 5463-436 Precisely controls the speed of steam turbines by adjusting steam inlet flow.
- Supports single-range or split-range actuators to accommodate turbines of different sizes.
- Overspeed Protection:
- Incorporates triple independent overspeed protection logic to ensure rapid shutdown in case of overspeed, preventing equipment damage.
- Provides an overspeed test button for convenient on-site testing of protection functions.
- Emergency Shutdown:
- Equipped with an emergency stop button for immediate shutdown in emergency situations.
- System Protection:
-
- Automatically switches control modes upon sensor failure to ensure uninterrupted system operation.
- Offers local/remote control priority selection to adapt to different operational scenarios.

-
1. Hall adaptive with or without
Automatic switching between Hall drive and non Hall drive, with self-learning function, particularly suitable for the maintenance market.
Whether using a 120 degree motor or a 60 degree motor, and regardless of how the Hall and phase wires are connected, as long as
the functional wires are correctly connected, the controller will automatically do everything for you.
2. Anti theft function
(1) If the non external anti-theft device closes the power lock, the system will automatically enter the anti-theft state. If the controller detects
that the motor is turning forward, it will apply force backward, and vice versa.
(2) After receiving a valid anti-theft signal, the external anti-theft controller enters the anti-theft state. When the controller detects that the motor is
rotating forward, it applies force backward, and vice versa.
3. Soft undervoltage and undervoltage protection function
When the battery voltage is insufficient and has not reached the undervoltage protection level, if high current output is continuously used,
the internal resistance and line resistance of the battery will generate a significant voltage drop, causing the controller to immediately
implement undervoltage protection.
In response to this situation, our controller”s current limit value decreases as the battery voltage drops below a certain level. Therefore,
the controller can continue to operate in a low current form, effectively improving the driving range of the electric vehicle. When the battery voltage falls below the undervoltage protection point, the output is turned off to protect the battery.
