What are the parameters of stepper motor drivers
The basic parameters of the stepper motor driver are as follows:
a、 The power supply can be selected according to the power specifications of the stepper motor being driven.
For AC power supply, such as AC80V, 220V mains power can be supplied to the driver through a step-down transformer.
When selecting a transformer, both voltage and current operating parameters must be considered simultaneously.
If the current value is 3A, the apparent power value obtained from the formula 80V × 3A=240VA cannot reach the actual output
capacity of 3A. The calculation result should be multiplied by a coefficient of 1.5 or more, and a transformer with 220/80V and 400VA or
more should be selected as the power input. The power supply of a two-phase motor is generally 12-48V,
b、 Output current value. The product labeling value is often the peak energy output capability. When selecting, the minimum should
be at least twice the rated current value of the stepper motor.
The gear of the output current is usually manually set by the dip switch on the control panel, such as 0.9A-3A. This is also an overload protection
setting, and the setting value can refer to the working current value of the stepper motor. Generally, there are 8 levels of grading.
c、 Excitation methods: full step, half step, 4-step, 8-step, 16-step, 32-step, 64 step. Half step is actually a 2-level subdivision, the higher the
subdivision level, the smaller the step torque angle, and the lower the motor speed. The control panel of the stepper driver is also equipped with a subdivision dip switch, and the subdivision values are also set.
